Rykka is a Swiss-Canadian multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges songwriting, performance, visual storytelling and immersive musical experiences. Over a career spanning more than two decades, they have written over 600 songs, performed more than 2,000 concerts internationally, represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2016 and received the top prize in Canada's Peak Performance Project. Their music has been featured by broadcasters, festivals and editorial playlists across Europe and North America.
While songwriting remains the foundation of their work, Rykka's artistic practice has increasingly expanded beyond the traditional concert format. Through immersive performances, participatory singing and interdisciplinary collaboration, they explore how music can become a shared space rather than simply something to be observed. Their work is guided by a commitment to removing barriers to participation while maintaining the artistic depth of the experience, creating environments where audiences are invited—not expected—to engage through listening, singing and shared presence.
This artistic direction is informed by Rykka's background in interaction design, accessibility and interdisciplinary performance, where thoughtful spatial design and human-centred facilitation become creative tools rather than functional considerations. Their recurring participatory singing project, The Monday Choir in Zürich's Old Town, has become an ongoing artistic laboratory for exploring collective voice, trust and musical participation.
Rykka's forthcoming album, BATH, was created with an entirely FLINTA team of songwriters, producers and collaborators. Exploring themes of acceptance, tenderness and quiet forms of strength, the album unfolds through five singles before its full release in January 2027. Alongside a traditional release campaign of concerts, festivals and media, BATH serves as the foundation for a new immersive performance format that expands the emotional world of the songs through carefully designed spaces, shared singing and collective musical experience.
Across all of their work, Rykka is interested in creating artistic experiences that can only exist in real life—where music becomes a place people enter together, and participation deepens rather than diminishes the encounter with art.
